Why Goatie is free

Goatie is supported by individuals and organizations who believe in the future of agriculture. Donations help pay for servers, software development, support, and the continued improvement of Goatie. No donation is required to use Goatie.

A student shouldn't lose a season of records because a subscription lapsed, and an advisor shouldn't have to find money in a chapter budget for something this basic. Free is the point, not a trial.

How it’s funded

Donations from individuals and organizations who want it to keep running

Sponsorships from businesses and chapters who can afford to help

Paid accounts for commercial operations: farms, vets, auctions and registries

Students and their families are never the revenue source. If you can help, donations go toward servers, storage, backups, and development time.

What happens to your records

Your records belong to you. Export everything you have entered, at any time

Deleting your account removes your data; see the account deletion page for exactly what goes

We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads

Records are member-entered unless verified by a connected advisor, veterinarian, auction, or registry

Will it still be here next spring?

It's a fair question to ask before you put a season of work into something. Goatie is built and maintained by a small team, the running costs are modest, and the funding model above is designed so the free tier doesn't depend on any one customer. If Goatie ever had to shut down, we would give notice and provide a full export of your records before anything was switched off.
